Michael Shermer: The pattern behind self-deception
This is a brilliant TED Talk by Michael Shermer of Skeptic Magazine where he discusses the evolutionary reasoning behind why people believe strange things and how easily our senses are fooled. I was especially interested in his concept of cognitive priming because that does seem to be how conspiracy theories and religions propagate in the face of evidence to the contrary.
